Trusting God in times of economic crisis

Laura Wofford on October 22, 2008

In the midst of economic uncertainty, we can be confident that our God "is the same yesterday and today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8). The ministry of RUF is founded upon the very Word of God and the promises God has made to His people in it. So, we must remind ourselves daily of God's faithfulness to His people throughout history. In the Bible the word "covenant" appears over 250 times, and biblically-speaking, covenants were bonds made in blood, and administered only by God. God is not only the covenant administrator, but the covenant-keeper! Because He has always upheld His promises to His people, we must trust that He will continue to do so. Please pray with us that, during these financially binding times, God will continue to allow the ministry of RUF to function at full speed. Although our pocketbook grows thin, our hope can never be built on anything less than "Jesus' blood and righteousness" because "all other ground is sinking sand."

"My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

On Christ the Solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand."
